COLLEGE NEWS

From the Principal
This week we have been celebrating Public Education Week and this year’s theme: Ignite Potential. This week we have been reflecting on the incredible possibilities that public education and specifically Wyndham College offers our students and how we can collectively nurture their growth and development.
What Does "Ignite Potential" Mean?
The theme Ignite Potential encapsulates our commitment to inspiring and empowering each student to reach their fullest potential. It highlights the importance of fostering a supportive and innovative learning environment where every student can thrive, explore their interests, and develop their unique talents. Students had opportunities to write:
- Skills they want to develop
- Words and mantras that motivate them
- Their goals or dreams
Throughout the week, we highlighted stories of success and achievement from our school community on our social media platforms, and we encourage you to engage with these posts and share your own stories of how public education has made a difference in your family's life.
As we celebrate Public Education Week, we want to thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to our college community. Together, we can ignite the potential in every student and help them achieve their dreams.
Attendance at school and in class
Regular school attendance is crucial for students’ academic success, as it ensures they do not miss out on essential learning experiences. Consistent attendance helps build a sense of academic community and belonging, allowing students to develop strong relationships with their peers and teachers. By prioritising attendance, students can reach their full potential and achieve their educational goals. Conversely, poor attendance creates learning gaps, and disconnection which negatively impacts student wellbeing and academic performance. At Wyndham College, we are proactive in supporting students to be at school every day of every week of every term to build a successful school life.
