VM Boys Host Charity Golf Day to Support Men’s Mental Health
On Tuesday, June 24th, the Year 11 and 12 VCE Vocational Major (VM) boys from Mortlake College hosted a successful and meaningful Charity Golf Day at the Mortlake Golf Club. The event was organised as part of their VM studies and aimed to raise both funds and awareness for men’s mental health, with all proceeds going to support the Mortlake Men’s Shed.
The day featured a round of golf, a barbecue lunch, and a long drive competition, and took place across three school sessions. The event wasn’t just about sport—it carried a strong message: encouraging men to speak up and start conversations about mental health.
A huge thank you goes to Mortlake Golf Club President John Snowden, who generously provided free green fees and helped make the day possible. Thanks also to Steve Maloney from the Mortlake Men’s Shed, who cooked up a delicious barbecue for all involved.
The VM boys were supported throughout the planning and running of the day by Mortlake College staff Nigel Boyden, Nathan Jones, and Lachie Reichman, who provided supervision and guidance every step of the way.
The Golf Day was a fantastic example of students engaging with their community, learning through experience, and making a positive impact. Well done to the VM class for leading such a successful and purposeful event.
