Principal Report - Planning supports Success
Effective teaching doesn’t happen by chance. Each week, our teachers dedicate time to working in Learning Teams, collaboratively planning lessons that meet the needs of their students. These lessons are not only aligned with the Victorian Curriculum but are also informed by current student data.
With Semester One reports now almost finalised and mid-year assessments completed, our classroom teachers are well-positioned to plan purposeful and targeted content to support student success in Term Three.
One of our school’s strengths is that planning does not happen in isolation. Every week, Area Teams are released from their classrooms through our specialist program to collaborate. These two-hour planning sessions provide time for teachers to work together, share ideas, review student work, and refine their teaching practices.
To further support staff in preparing for Term Three, we will run an altered specialist timetable next week. This will give each Area Team extended time—almost a full day—to collaborate, with the added benefit of having our Learning Specialist, Danah Clarke, available to support the planning process.
What this means for your child:
Next week, your child will have all of their specialist classes on a single day, as follows:
- Year 5/6 – Monday
- Year 3/4 – Tuesday
- Year 1/2 – Wednesday
- Preps – Friday
Please make note this is a temporary change. On your child’s specialist day, remind them about the new schedule and the excitement of enjoying a special program in the final week of term.
Jelly Week – Last Week of Term
To celebrate the end of a fantastic term, our Student Voice Team are excited to be leading part two of our Colour Kindness Day – the Jelly Week Fundraiser!. Throughout the last week of term, students will have the opportunity to purchase a cup of jelly for $2 from the canteen at recess.
Each day will be allocated to a different year level:
- Monday – Prep
- Tuesday – Year 1/2
- Wednesday – Year 3/4
- Thursday – Year 5/6
This fun initiative will help raise funds for a targeted area in the yard that our Student Voice Team is eager to develop and improve.
School reports – Wednesday July 2nd
Student reports will be sent home during the last week of term. These reports provide a summary of your child’s progress, achievements, and areas for continued growth across all learning areas. We encourage families to take the time to read through the report together, and to celebrate the effort and accomplishments your child has made throughout the term.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the report in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. Working together helps support each student’s ongoing learning journey.
Holiday Head Lice Check
With the holidays just around the corner, we encourage all families to take the opportunity to check and treat their children's hair for head lice (nits).Winter is often a time when we see an increase in cases, particularly among students in the junior grades. Head lice can spread quickly and are difficult to eliminate once established, often leading to frustration and added costs for families. By checking and treating your child’s hair during the break, we can work together to reduce the spread and start Term Three lice-free. Thank you for your support in helping keep our school community healthy.
Last Day of Term and start of Term 4
A reminder that the last day of term is on Friday July 4th. On this day school will conclude an hour earlier at 2:20pm. School will resume on Monday July 21st.
