Start-Up Challenge: Student Business Stalls

On Tuesday 1 July during lunch, our Year 9/10 Legal Studies and Business students will be hosting the annual Business Stalls as part of the Start-Up Challenge. Each student receives $20 in start-up capital and works individually or in a team to create and run their own small business.

This year, students have been challenged to incorporate sustainability into their products or business models. All profits from the stalls will be donated to charities chosen by the students.

Stall offerings will include:

  • Handmade bracelets;

  • Cookies and cake pops;

  • Donuts and mousse;

  • Plus many more creative items and treats!

With everything priced under $5, we encourage students to bring along some loose change and come support our young entrepreneurs and the causes they care about. We look forward to seeing you there!

Secondary Debating

As the debating season concludes after Terms 1 and 2, our Secondary Debating Teams have shown great enthusiasm  and commitment throughout the competition.

The small Year 9/10 team consisting of Jazzy Adams, Una Burton, Georgie Costelloe, Lily Rose McGee and Ashritha Mamidipalli displayed solid team spirit throughout the season. They took on challenging topics, including "Adult Crime, Adult Time," handling these complex issues with maturity and thoughtful analysis. Despite their smaller numbers, they worked well together and supported each other effectively. Thank you to Mrs Burke for coaching this team.

The Year 10 team of Isobel Dare, Kate Fielding, Keshi Kesavanarayanan, Emme Mulcahy, Shreya Singh, Mia Turner, Ruby Turner and Amy can Riet maintained enthusiasm throughout the season and developed new skills, particularly in delivering Points of Information during debates and presenting reply speeches. Their commitment to tackling challenging topics and turning up to every debate was fantastic to see. Mrs Jetson’s coaching of this team is greatly appreciated.

The Year 8 team, made up of  Grace Claxton, Eliza Fleming, Cariad Lewis, Sophia McNulty, Carla Mione, Dhitika Rao and Eve Sylvester has had a successful season with a strong win record, earning their place in next week's semi-final. Their consistent performance reflects their hard work and developing skills throughout Terms 1 and 2. We wish the Year 8 team well as they prepare for their semi-final debate and look forward to seeing how they perform in this important match.
