A Word from the Principal

A Prayer for Peace

Loving God,

You are the source of all peace and justice.

In a world that often feels divided and troubled,

we turn to You, seeking Your calm in the storm.

Fill our hearts with compassion,

our minds with understanding,

and our actions with gentleness.

Help us to be peacemakers in our homes,

in our school, and in the world around us.

We pray for those who suffer because of conflict,

for families torn apart by violence,

and for leaders who carry the weight of difficult decisions.

Guide them with wisdom, courage, and mercy.

May Your peace - deep, lasting, and true -

take root in our lives and ripple out into the world.

Piece by piece, may we build a world

where justice reigns and love prevails.

We ask this in the name of Jesus,

Prince of Peace.

Amen.

Promoting Peace – A Reflection

At Mount Carmel Catholic College, peace is more than the absence of conflict - it is the presence of justice, kindness, respect, and compassion in all that we do. As a Catholic community, we are called to be peacemakers, echoing the words of Jesus in the Beatitudes: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”

Promoting peace begins in the everyday interactions between students, staff, and families. It is in the way we listen to one another, resolve misunderstandings, and extend forgiveness. Peace is nurtured in our classrooms when we create spaces where every voice is heard and every individual is valued. It is strengthened through our commitment to restorative practices and our efforts to walk gently with one another, even in moments of challenge.

Peace also begins at home. Families can foster peace by setting aside time to truly listen to one another, showing appreciation in small daily gestures, and modelling respectful communication. Sharing meals, praying together, being slow to anger, and quick to forgive are powerful ways to create a peaceful environment where children feel safe, heard, and loved. When peace is practised in the home, it flows into our wider community.

This term, we have intentionally reflected on the power of words, the strength of empathy, and the importance of standing up for what is right. Whether through our Making Jesus Real program, classroom discussions, prayer and liturgy, or student leadership initiatives, our students are learning that peace is an active pursuit - one that requires courage, patience, and faith.

As a College, we also hold in our hearts those beyond our community who are affected by war, violence, and injustice. In prayer, we unite our voices in asking God for peace in our world - peace in hearts, homes, and nations. Our students have participated in moments of silent reflection, liturgies for peace, and classroom prayers, recognising that even small prayers can echo loudly when offered in faith and hope.

May we continue to walk as a community that builds bridges rather than walls, speaks hope rather than harm, and believes in the transforming power of peace, piece by piece.

Louisa Opening

We are excited to share that the Louisa Centre will officially open on the first day of Term 3, marking a significant milestone in the growth of Mount Carmel Catholic College. Moving the Kindergarten and Prep classes down will allow for the relocation of Primary Music back to its former dedicated room, providing a vibrant and creative environment for our younger students. The College gym will also be moved to our current Kinder GLA, a more purposefully site with outdoor training access. The former gym room will then become a dedicated Student Support Hub which will offer an accessible and welcoming space for wellbeing, counselling, and academic support services.

In preparation for the opening, staff have been working hard to set up learning environments that are warm, engaging, and ready to welcome students from day one. An induction process will take place during the first week to familiarise students with the new spaces.

Communication and Complaints Process

At Mount Carmel Catholic College, we value open communication and strong partnerships with our families. If you have any concerns or questions about your child’s experience at the College, we encourage you to reach out to us early so that we can work together to find positive solutions. We are committed to listening, responding with care, and supporting each student’s wellbeing and learning journey. Should a matter require more formal attention, the College’s complaints handling process is available and can be accessed via the link on our website. We thank you for your ongoing support and trust in our shared mission to nurture every learner, every day.

Enrolment Changes for 2026

As we begin planning for 2026, we kindly ask families to inform the College as soon as possible of any intended changes to enrolments for next year. We currently have waitlists across most year levels, and your early notice assists us greatly with planning and offering places to other families. Please note that the College requires ten weeks’ written notice for any enrolment withdrawals, in line with our enrolment policy. We appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to manage strong interest in our College community.

Attendance Matters – Every Day Counts

A reminder to all families that every day at school counts. Regular attendance has a significant impact on student learning, wellbeing, and connection to our College community. In line with our Attendance Policy, formal notifications are issued at 5, 10, and 20 days of absence to help monitor and support student engagement.

If your child is experiencing school refusal or you are facing challenges in getting them to school, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our Class Teachers, Clan Teachers, and Heads of House are here to support you and work in partnership to find solutions. If your family is planning extended leave, please contact the College Office to access the appropriate leave application process.
