Semester One Academic Reports released on Friday, July 4th 2025.

The Department of Education requires schools to provide a written academic (print or digital) student report at least twice a year to the parents/carers of each child enrolled at the school.

Semester Academic Reports provide students, teachers and parents/carers with a clear and concise picture of a student’s achievement and progress at a point in time.

This year our semester reporting format will look a little different to previous years due to the introduction of the Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) recently published its revised Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0 Version. All Victorian government schools started using the Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0 in 2024 or 2025.

Under the Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0, your child’s teacher will report against the achievement standard as a whole, providing a single score.

As the achievement standards reported on have changed, the first time you receive a report under the Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0, it will only show achievement (black dot) and not progress (dotted line). For all reports after this, progress will be shown against the single achievement standard.

The VCAA made these changes to help teachers plan their teaching and learning programs in mathematics, giving them more flexibility to support students to link ideas within mathematics and also with other curriculum areas. Additionally, the changes highlight that the Victorian Government expects more from the learning area of Mathematics - the new curriculum is more challenging, in multiple areas.

There are many differences in the old Mathematics curriculum compared to the new Victorian Curriculum Mathematics 2.0, so your child’s attainment from previous years can’t be compared, as the curriculum targets and expectations have changed.

A child's placement (black dot) on the report reflects where they stand according to the latest curriculum requirements in Mathematics.

Parent/Carer Interviews Next Term

In the second week of Term 3, we will be hosting parent / carer conferences with teachers.

These meetings are an opportunity for students, with the support of their teachers, to celebrate their learning from Semester 1, as well as talk about goals for Semester 2.

These meetings are an opportunity for parents and carers to discuss academic, social and emotional progress of their child with their teacher and to set goals for Semester 2. These interviews will occur without the children.
