Reading Your Child’s School Report – A Guide for Parents

As we come to the end of another semester you will soon receive your child’s school report. These reports are an important way for us to share your child’s progress, achievements, and next steps in their learning journey.

We understand that reading a school report can sometimes feel a little overwhelming. To help, here are a few tips to make the most of this important update:

🔍 What to Look For

  • Celebrate strengths: Take a moment to recognise the progress your child has made, both academically and personally.
  • Progress, not just grades: Reports reflect not just where your child is now, but how far they’ve come. Growth and effort are just as important as outcomes.
  • Areas for improvement: Every child has areas to develop—these are opportunities for learning, not causes for concern.

🗣 Talk It Through

Take time to read the report together with your child. Highlight their successes, and discuss any goals or targets in a positive and encouraging way. This helps children feel proud and motivated.

🧭 What’s Next?

Your child’s report will include teacher comments or targets for the future. We’ll continue to support these in school, and you can help at home by encouraging reading, practising basic maths, or simply talking about their day.

Be proud of everything your children have achieved!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING SENDING MEDICAL INFORMATION AND REPORTS

As a result of the Quality Assurance process and discussion. It is recommended that all medical documentation and reports that families are sending to staff be sent via email or in a hard copy.  Please do not use the seesaw app to send medical information to school.
