Year 9 Experiential Week

Year 9 engaged in a weeklong program focusing on Pathways, City Experience, Personal Development and gaining micro credentials. 

 

Monday: They participated in pathway workshops, hearing from current Year 12 students who are completing VCE, VCE VM, and VET options. They also explored career options based on their attributes to help them initiate the process of selecting subjects for their senior years.

 

Tuesday: The first of their City Experience days included a visit to ACU to learn about various course offerings and a campus tour. Then a tour of the Fitzroy Gardens and St Patrick's Cathedral.

 

 

Wednesday: The second of their City Experience days included meeting their teachers in the CBD after navigating public transport with peers or independently. The day then included a visit to the Melbourne Museum for general gallery viewing and participation in 'Getting the Message- Road to Zero' Road Safety program, as well as a visit to ArtVo- an interactive art exhibition where you become part of the art.

 

Thursday: Personal development and vision boards with the team from AYA, an informative session hosted by Sonya Karras on the dangers of Vaping, and a performance from Brainstorm Productions called 'The Flipside' which explored the topic of cyberbullying.

 

Friday: Micro credentials; students chose from First Aid, Patisserie Masterclass, Community Coaching, Work Ready Skills and Social Media for Small Business.
