Athlete of the Year - Chloe Grund

Awarded since 2014, the Athlete of the Year award recognises sporting excellence whilst representing Heathmont College. Previous winners have included swimmers, tennis players, a cricketer and track and field athletes. This year’s winner is a true all rounder who has demonstrated an amazing ability across a number of sports.

The Rene Luneman Memorial Award - Patricia Chan

The Rene Luneman Memorial Award is awarded in recognition of a staff member lost in 2021. The award recognises a student's dedication, contributions and ability in the area of writing. Rene involved herself in many aspects of the education of young people, she set very high standards in her classroom and students were left in no doubt as to whether or not their work met those standards.

Rene had been a teacher for more than 40 years, she grew up in Heathmont, attending Ringwood HS and returned here for the last 20 odd years of her career.  She had been a teacher of English, Humanities and Psychology, with a smattering of VCAL thrown into the mix over the years.  Rene loved language and was able to instil that love in others.  She loved teaching and she loved working with young people, taking great pride in their accomplishments and sorrow or frustration at their setbacks.
