Information for new Year 7 parents
Welcome new families!!!
We are thoroughly looking forward to meeting and working with our new cohort of Year 7s and their families. The transition from Primary School to High School can be daunting. But here at Heathmont College, we've done our best to make the transition process enjoyable, easy to navigate and stress free.
Below are some details on the first few weeks of school as well as some common questions.
First Day
Students to meet in full school uniform in the Stadium (same as Orientation). The first assembly will commence at 9am. Students can have their bags with them as their lockers will be allocated later in the day. Due to the numbers of students, unfortunately the first assembly will be for students only. However, the following week we look forward to hosting information sessions for parents (information below). We also predict the morning traffic around the school to be quite busy, so please allow time for this.
Classes
Please note that we’ve been busy using the feedback provided by yourselves, the primary schools and students to formulate our classes for next year. These will be available to view in the week before school returning via Compass. If you have trouble accessing Compass, please contact the school on 9871 4888 from Tuesday 28th January.
Booklists and Uniform
Details on booklists and uniform/uniform shop can be found on our College website. Please note that students will studying German OR Indonesian. Please do not purchase books for both. Your language allocation should have been emailed recently.
Mobile Phones on Camp
Mobile phones are not permitted on camp. There is a Ministerial Order in place around the use of phones by students. However, on occasion, the Principal is able to grant exemption on special grounds such as disability and/or mental health. Click here for details on exemption and on the Mobile Phone Policy. Any phones that are lost/damaged are at the risk of the owner. To apply for an exemption, please fill in this form.
