5/6 NEWS

This week in Grade 5/6, the students have settled back into the routines and expectations of the class. It’s been great to see them adjusting quickly, taking responsibility for their work, and showing respect for one another.
Reading:
In reading, we’ve been working on building up our independent reading stamina and practicing good reading behaviours during teacher conferences. We’ve focused on reading for longer periods, aiming to read independently for 30 minutes. Students have been discussing the importance of reading stamina, completing written responses to what they’ve read, and selecting 'just right' books using the five-finger rule. Additionally, they’ve been sharing verbal summaries of the texts to demonstrate their understanding and engagement with the material.
Swimming:
Alongside that, the students wrapped up their swimming lessons, and it’s been fantastic to see their progress! They worked on improving their strokes, building strength in the water, and gaining confidence in deeper areas.
Reminders:
Meet & Greet Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Tuesday, 18th February. Please log in to XUNO to book your interview. Online bookings will close at 3pm on Monday, 17th February. We’re excited to meet everyone for a friendly chat! Students should attend school as normal on the day of interviews.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
As we had 5/6B at the top of this page, we thought it only appropriate to include a photo of the other (equally great looking) senior class, 5/6A!
