Setting the Expectation
As a member of the St Mary's Catholic College community, students are expected to wear the College uniform neatly, completely, and correctly at all times. The below image provides an example of students wearing the Formal College uniform in line with college expectations:
In addition to the Formal Uniform, students are required to purchase and use the items listed below:
REMINDER: OUTGROWN OR OUTWORN UNIFORMS MUST BE REPLACED
Outgrown or outworn uniform items must be replaced to ensure Team St Mary's maintains a high standard of professional presentation. This includes College hats and bags that may have faded over time.
We would like to take this opportunity to also remind all families about our
'Team St Mary's' personal grooming requirements.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS: HAIR & TATTOOS
Hair is to be of conventional style, neat and of a natural colour, shade, and tone.
Clipped hair is to be no less than a 'Number 3' comb length.
Students are to be clean-shaven. Cultural exemptions must be approved through consultation with the Principal.
Visible tattoos are not permitted at St Mary’s Catholic College.
REMINDER: MULLETS OF ANY LENGTH ARE OUT!
Please, do not allow your child to come to school with a mullet or any type of unacceptable hair cut. Should this occur, parents/carers will be contacted and asked to ensure the cut is professionally fixed.
Examples of unacceptable styles include but are not limited to: undercuts, shaved patterns, steps, lines, dreadlocks, cornrows, marked contrasts of any length, and crewcuts.
REMINDER:
MAKEUP, NAIL POLISH, ACRYLIC NAILS & EYELASH EXTENSIONS ARE OUT!
Make-up, nail polish and cosmetic accessories such as acrylic nails and eyelash extensions are not to be worn on the College grounds.
As we commence the school year, we would like to take this opportunity to remind families of the uniform policy regarding jewellery. Our College has always requested jewellery to be discreet, meaning not particularly noticeable, however, the interpretation of this is very individual. As such, we have sought to be clear on the requirements.
STARTING WEEK 1, STUDENTS ARE PERMITTED TO WEAR:
1 x watch
1 x silver or gold necklace, with a religious medallion or cross only, worn under the College uniform; it is not to be visible.
1 x small silver or gold sleeper/stud in each earlobe only.
Stud: No larger than 5 mm
Sleeper: No larger than 12 mm.
Visible piercings other than earrings, as described above, must be removed while in school uniform; this includes clear or thin-coloured piercings.
Rings, bracelets or any other form of jewellery are not to be worn while in school uniforms.
We thank all parents and carers for continuing to work in partnership with the College as we strive to exceed expectations. Further information regarding the Uniform Policy can be found in the following Student Expectations document:
