From the Classroom

Art News

With the year coming to an end I would like to congratulate every single student on their engagement and interest in the Art program. It has been a fun year and I can’t wait to see what we achieve in 2025. This week your child’s art folio will come home with all their 2D artworks from the year, and there are a number of clay artworks that still need to be collected from the art room. Please remind your students to come and grab their creations as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we do not have room to hold onto these works over the holidays. Every attempt will be made to get them home, but any left in the art room on the last day will go into the bin.

Grade 3/4 Magiclay creatures

This week, students were given the opportunity to create a creature of their own choice using up some leftover magiclay. They loved the smooth, soft feeling of the clay. To quote George, “It feels majestic.” This type of air dry clay is great because it air dries and lasts a long time. The colours are bold and bright, and it is easy to shape and manipulate. Well done Grade 3/4 students on how awesome these creatures turned out to be!

Grade 5/6 Printmaking

Students in the Grade 5/6 area have been working on a printmaking unit for the past 4 weeks. We covered the history of printmaking, looked at some famous prints, and learnt about the different types of printmaking. Students were asked to plan and design their own template for a print. They traced this onto some printmaking foam, and finally got the chance to make a number of prints in different colours.  Here is a snapshot of 5/6M’s creations.
