Year 7 News

Vermont Secondary College

A warm welcome to all Year 7 students, staff, and parents of Vermont Secondary College! We are thrilled to have kicked off the 2025 academic year with such enthusiasm and positivity.

Our newest members of the school community—our Year 7 students—arrived bright and early, ready to embark on their secondary school journey. Dressed in crisp uniforms and carrying their books and bags, they were greeted with a brief assembly in the gym before heading to their group rooms. There, they received their lockers, familiarised themselves with their timetables, reflected on their goals and aspirations, set up their devices, and began forming new friendships. Congratulations to our Year 7 students for a fantastic start to the school year!

We are incredibly proud of the Year 7 cohort. They have shown great confidence and courtesy in their interactions with all members of the Vermont Secondary College community. Our students have quickly settled into their learning environment, demonstrating strong organisational and communication skills. Well done, Year 7! Many students are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to sign up for team sports—watch out for more information soon via COMPASS and email.

We encourage Year 7 students to fully engage in all aspects of school life, from homework clubs to creative activities like knitting and crocheting, chess, STEM clubs, and much more. Keep an eye out for club notifications posted around the school and be sure to check your COMPASS newsfeed for daily updates.

Newsflash: Year 7 Camp Dates

  • MACEDON HOUSE: Monday, February 24th – Wednesday, February 26th

  • STIRLING and HOTHAM HOUSES: Wednesday, February 26th – Friday, February 28th

The Year 7 Orientation Camp is an exciting and important part of the school's Transition Program. Taking place at a beautiful camp site near Marysville, the camp offers students a chance to develop meaningful relationships with their peers, teachers, and student managers. This experience helps them settle into secondary school life with ease. Over the three days, students will enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as the vertical challenge, cycling, swimming, bush walks, and indoor games. The camp will focus on team-building and fostering connections, and all activities will be led by qualified camp staff alongside our dedicated college teachers.

Further details, including what to bring, behavioural expectations, and group roster allocations, will be shared soon. We look forward to spending this time with the students and getting to know them better.

At Vermont Secondary College, we are committed to supporting our students’ academic and personal growth. We value the strong partnerships we build with parents and guardians to help our students reach their full potential. We encourage students and families to familiarise themselves with school processes and expectations through the Vermont Secondary Website, and to reach out to their Student Managers with any questions or concerns.

Your Year 7 Student Managers for 2025 are:
