Years 3 and 4 Camp

Years 3 and 4 Camp Jungai
Mia Liu, Thomas Ransom, Annie Li and Reina Xu, Year 3 and Lucy Canobie, Year 4
On a cold and frosty morning, Years 3 and 4 set off from Kilvington for Camp Jungai, located in the scenic Rubicon Valley.
The bus ride was long and took us on some very windy roads, so we were all excited to finally arrive at our destination. The first thing we noticed was how breathtaking the view was!
We quickly settled into our cabins before starting our fantastic activities for the day. We took part in orienteering, which was like a big scavenger hunt. Then we went bushwalking, keeping an extra close lookout for snakes!
We also enjoyed an Indigenous cultural session with Aunty, where we painted boomerangs and learnt how to throw them. Aunty showed us how certain native leaves can be used like soap, and we were amazed at how well they cleaned the paint off our hands!
As evening came around, we spotted lots of kangaroos and wallabies hopping around the area, and even gave them names!
After a hearty breakfast the next morning, we took on Possum Pull. In this challenge, we had to pull a teammate (wearing a harness) as high as we could, almost 10 metres in the air! This was a lot of fun! Their mission was to drop two soft toys into a blue bucket below.
In the evening, we enjoyed a delicious dinner of pasta bake, followed by chocolate mousse for dessert. Later on, some of the teachers, who we’ve decided are a little bit old-fashioned, thought that watching a movie would make us feel sleepy so they put on Alvin and the Chipmunks. After watching it, we went to bed and actually did sleep soundly, so maybe the teachers were right after all!
We couldn’t believe how quickly the final day arrived. After another tasty breakfast, we packed up our cabins and took part in our last few activities, including canoeing and some fun team-building games. Before long, the bus arrived to take us back to School.
We were sad to have to leave the beautiful surroundings of Camp Jungai, but were excited to see our families. And our teachers were definitely excited to sleep in their own beds!
Camp was an awesome experience. We feel really lucky to have enjoyed this time together and can’t wait for our next adventure in 2026!
