School Highlights (cont'd)

Connor's Run
Jacqui Goldenberg, Head of Community Service
Once again this year, our students made us proud at Connor’s Run, Australia’s largest event for paediatric brain cancer, organised by the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation.
It was a perfect sunny day filled with the event’s signature'more fun than run' energy. We had an incredible team of around 100 runners, mostly from Year 10, take part in the event, along with staff, parents and some returning students in Years 11 and 12.
Seven of our VCE students also volunteered to help run one of the water stations, cheering on participants and keeping everyone hydrated along the way.
We also celebrated the efforts of the 500 volunteers who made the day possible and, at last count, Kilvington was proudly the number one fundraising school!
A huge thank you to the Character Development Team and PE staff for their support of this wonderful initiative, and to Mr French for capturing all the finish line smiles!
RISE Leadership Program with Flying Fox
Jacqui Goldenberg, Head of Community Service
Well done to our Year 10s for completing Kilvington’s RISE Leadership Program!
On the last day of Term 3, 54 Year 10s took part in a four-day immersive leadership experience with Flying Fox. Flying Fox operates on the belief that 'fun is a human right', and this camp certainly delivered on that promise.
Our students were paired as buddies with a participant living with a disability, an experience that was both challenging and rewarding.
In a supportive yet demanding environment, our students cared 24/7 for their buddy, mentoring, supporting and forming genuine connections throughout their time together.
They stepped outside their comfort zones, left fear of judgment behind and embraced every moment with patience, positivity and kindness.
The Leadership Camp with Flying Fox was a powerful reflection of our school motto: 'Not for our own, but others’ good'.
