Dear Sacred Heart Families,
Welcome to the 2025 school year! It is with much gratitude and anticipation that I welcome back our students, staff and families for what promises to be a wonderful year ahead, as well as extending a extra special welcome to those joining our Sacred Heart community for the first time. We are delighted to begin another year of learning, building partnerships and growing in faith together.
The start of the school year has reminded me of those aspects of school and community that make Sacred Heart such a special place. On our first day, we gathered as a staff, unpacking what it means to be an educator at Sacred Heart and our hopes and dreams for your children. We identified the importance of building a strong and trusting relationship between a teacher and the child. We explored our 'Image of the Child" - where our teaching begins. Throughout the year, we will continue to build on those relationships, ensuring every child feels a sense of belonging, connectedness and is nurtured to reach their full potential. At Sacred Heart, we are blessed with a dedicated team of educators who are passionate about fostering a love of learning and an optimism for the future.
Building Community and Connection
One of the greatest strengths of Sacred Heart is our sense of community and this has been so evident over the past two weeks as, together, we welcomed new families, children and staff to the school. It has been wonderful to see new friendships blossom and connections being formed. We encourage parents and families to be actively engaged, whether through our newsletter, Seesaw, helping out in classrooms or attending our many school events throughout the year. Together, we create a strong and supportive network that enhances the learning and wellbeing of every child.
Looking Ahead
This term, we have a number of exciting events and initiatives planned, including School Assemblies, the Class Information evening, Getting to Know You Conversations and our much-anticipated Prep 2025 Welcome event. Be sure to keep an eye out on the school Parent Calendar and in the "What's On" section of the newsletter for more details.
I look forward to seeing you all over the weeks ahead. Please do not hesitate to reach out to myself, the office or your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
May the year be filled with joy, learning and the creation of many wonderful memories.
Wishing you all a blessed and productive Term 1.
Yours in faith,
Kaylene

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Dale Tapping, beloved husband of staff member Kellie and loving father to Summer and Mason. Kellie is a Learning Support Officer at Sacred Heart and supports many of our Sacred Heart students in many ways. Dale is well known throughout the AFL community as a coach at Essendon and Brisbane in recent years. Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with Kellie, Summer, Mason and all who knew and loved Dale during this difficult time.
Congratulations to the students who have elected by their peers in the role of MacKillop Leaders for 2025.

Last Thursday marked a very special day for our Prep children, with their very first day at Sacred Heart. The children began the day in the Prep learning spaces with anticipation, smiles and maybe a few nervous butterflies too! Our 49 (soon to be 50) Prep children have done so well over the past two weeks, saying goodbye to their special person in the morning, making new friends, building new routines, looking after their belongings and so much more! We just love the beautiful smiles in the images below. Caitlin and Bree are so very proud of how well the Preppies are doing and we look forward together for a year of learning, wondering, connections and creating wonderful memories!
On Wednesday, the Year 6 children headed off to camp at Campaspe Downs and by all accounts are having a wonderful time. We look forward to seeing them back at school this afternoon and hearing all about their adventures. Cath (Deputy Principal - Catholic Identity & Pedagogy) has written about our camp program in the Faith Life & Learning and Teaching section of the newsletter and included some great photos of past camps as well. A huge thank you to Cath, Anthony, Kristian and Virginia who attended the camp with the Year 6 students. We appreciate the time you have had away from your own families to ensure our Sacred Heart students get to experience camp in their school life.
On Wednesday, 19th February, we will be holding 'Class Information Sessions' for families to learn more about their child's class and year level.
The sessions will be combined with the other class in the same year level and presented by the teachers. eg Year 2H & Year 2K with Holly & Kate
