We are beyond excited to begin this year with our new students and delve into learning with positivity and enthusiasm. To jump back into the school year, students all over the school have been actively participating in a Ready to Learn program that re-introduces them to school expectations and connections.
Meet the Grade 3/4 teaching team!
Ready to Learn Program!
The first two weeks in the Grade 3/4 cohort has been busy. Our students have settled into their routines and made new friendships through team-building activities and discussions. We have taken these two weeks to focus on building a strong classroom culture and community. Students in each 3/4 classroom worked together to build a classroom Mantra with promises that they’ve made to each other. They created all about me posters where they could express a little bit about them, including their favourite colours, hobbies, foods and many more. Other activities such as ‘multi player drawing’, ‘5 second rule’ and ‘act out this scenario’ were also played within our learning spaces to improve communication, perseverance and team work. The implementation of these tasks into our Ready to Lean program has promoted a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing, aimed to assist students as navigate this year with confidence and resilience.
Additional topics of discussion across this two week block included:
Junior School Council
This year, there were many students who tried out for the JSC position as a representative for their class. These representatives are viewed as positive role models across the school, who provide a voice for the students in their class at monthly meetings. They work collaboratively to implement whole school initiatives, campaigns and activities. Students worked hard to create a speech and deliver it to the members of their classroom. After a class vote, there was one lucky winner chosen to be our JSC. All representatives will be announced next Friday at assembly!
