This term, Carlingford West students have been enthusiastically building their athletics skills through a range of exciting events including shot put, discus, and high jump. Each session begins with energetic skipping rope warm ups, helping students develop coordination, rhythm, and fitness in a fun and engaging way. It has been wonderful to see the students continue to grow in confidence and skill with both skipping and athletics

Carlingford West Students Shine on the Representative Sports Stage

Carlingford West Public School is proud to recognise the outstanding achievements of Theo S (Class 6E) and Leanne T (Class 6A), who recently represented Sydney West at the 2026 NSWPSSA Basketball Championships held in Port Macquarie from 19–22 May 2026.

Hosted by the NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council, the championships bring together talented primary school basketball players from public, independent and Catholic schools across New South Wales, providing a valuable opportunity for young athletes to compete at the highest primary school level.

Theo and Leanne were honoured to be selected to represent the Sydney West Association and competed against some of the strongest basketball players from across the state. Throughout the tournament, they displayed exceptional skill, teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, contributing to an outstanding result for their team.

Competing against 14 regional associations from across NSW, the Sydney West Boys team achieved an impressive second-place finish, while the Sydney West Girls team finished fourth overall. Theo and Leanne’s selection in the Sydney West representative team and their contribution to this outstanding achievement reflect their dedication to the sport, commitment to training and passion for basketball.

We congratulate Theo and Leanne on their remarkable success and are incredibly proud of the way they represented both Sydney West and Carlingford West Public School. We look forward to following their future sporting achievements.

Meanwhile, on 9 June, Teresa S from Class 4W represented Castle Hill Zone at the Sydney West Cross Country Championships. Taking on a challenging course against a highly competitive field of talented runners, Teresa showed tremendous resilience and perseverance to finish in 19th place. Her determination and commitment to giving her best effort are commendable and serve as an inspiration to her peers.

These achievements highlight not only the sporting talent within our school but also the values of commitment, sportsmanship, and perseverance that our students demonstrate both on and off the field. 

We congratulate these students on their fantastic accomplishments and thank their families, coaches, and teachers for their ongoing support in helping them pursue their sporting goals.

Sydney West Football Championships

On Monday (15th June), the CHPSSA Boys Football team competed in the Sydney West Boys Football Championships at Valentine Sports Park.

The boys started the day by scoring an early goal within the first minute, of the first game, and controlled the rest of the game to secure a 2-0 win against Hawkesbury.

In the 2nd and 3rd pool games we faced some difficult defensive teams. The games against St. Marys and Blacktown ended in 0-0 draws, despite our dominance and numerous scoring chances. The boys were frustrated after these results, however, we pushed on and knew that if we could win our final group game we would secure a place in the semi-finals.

Our final group game was against Mt. Druitt and was a must-win. The boys displayed an outstanding level of intensity and secured a dominant 4-0 win to earn a place in the semi-finals.

We placed 2nd in our pool, despite being undefeated and not conceding a goal, which meant that we played first place in Pool A, which was Parramatta. The boys continued and maintained their intensity from the final pool game and scored a variety of excellent goals. The semi-final ended 4-0, which meant that we would play Blacktown in the Grand Final.

With two undefeated teams playing in the final, we knew that it was going to be a difficult game. We continued our front-foot approach and created some great scoring chances. Unfortunately, despite Hudson's and Julius' powerful strikes on goal, the Blacktown keeper made two high-class saves to deny us from scoring.

The game ended as a 0-0 draw, with two deserving winners, Blacktown and Castle Hill (as per Sydney West rules -> if the final is a draw both teams are joint premiers).

Special congratulations to Julius L (6C) who has been selected for an additional trial for the Sydney West team. We wish him the best of luck!

Table Tennis - Term 3, 2026                           

Table Tennis lessons will be offered by Paul Zhao's Table Tennis Academy before and after school at Carlingford West Public School on Tuesday and Thursday morning and afternoon.  Catering for beginner to advanced standards.

Duration of each session will be 45 minutes and will be held in the School Hall corridor.

These sessions will be held before (8.30 ~ 9.15 am) also after (3.30 ~ 4.15 pm) school on Tuesdays or Thursdays from Week 1.
