Alumni Updates

Mentors and students taking part in the 2026 Mentor Matching Program

Growing through Mentoring

Thank you to the Alumni who volunteered as mentors in Kilvington’s 2026 Mentor Matching Program.

By sharing their experiences and insights, our mentors helped Year 11 students explore university pathways, career opportunities and life beyond school. Just as importantly, mentoring offers valuable benefits for young professionals, including developing leadership, communication and coaching skills while expanding professional networks.

One particularly memorable mentoring relationship was between Year 11 student Sinclair, an aspiring performer and opera enthusiast, and acclaimed performer Suzanne Johnston (Class of 1975). With a distinguished career spanning opera, music theatre and concert performance, Suzanne was the perfect mentor for Sinclair, and the pair quickly bonded over their shared passion for the performing arts.

Suzanne was delighted to attend Sinclair's performance as Robbie Hart in The Wedding Singer, cheering him on from the audience in Dalton Hall — the very stage where she herself performed in Gilbert and Sullivan productions as a Kilvington student in the 1970s. It was a special full-circle moment that highlighted the lasting impact of the program.

We are incredibly grateful to all of our mentors for investing in the next generation of Kilvington students.

International Women's Day 2026

Earlier this year we welcomed Old Kilvonian Cynthia Carter (née Latham), Class of 1986, back to school as our guest speaker for our International Women’s Day breakfast, reflecting on this year’s theme, Balance the Scales.

Cynthia shared insights from her career and her work supporting women in the prison system, speaking openly about the challenges many women face and the importance of advocacy and change. Her message was both powerful and inspiring for our current students and staff.

It was wonderful to see an accomplished Kilvington alumna return to campus and share her experiences with the next generation of Kilvonians. Thank you Cynthia.

Since 2019, the Kilvington community has proudly supported Connor’s Run, with all Year 10 students participating annually.
