Congratulations Abbey
We are delighted to share with you news that one of our past students, Abbey Clerke, (class of ‘20) is about to have a children’s picture book published! Titled, “How to Catch a Tiger”, it will be released in Australia on November 6, published by Starfish Bay Children’s books.
Abbey has shared the following description and images of the book with us:
Matilda is an inquisitive girl with a vivid imagination. Convinced that a ferocious tiger has been lurking in her backyard at night, brave Matilda leaps into action to save her family from the beast.
Matilda gets to work conducting research and creating a clever tiger-trap, before preparing for the suspense-filled wait.
This hilarious tale of misunderstanding is an affectionate celebration of resourcefulness, inventiveness and the power of imagination. Children will be enthralled by the story - “could there really be a tiger in Matilda’s backyard?” and will laugh out loud at the surprise conclusion.

Congratulations to Jerush
We are delighted to announce that Jerush Perera (Year 12) has been granted a provisional scholarship from the University of Melbourne. The Melbourne Principals' Scholarship provides a one-off allowance of $5,000 to students who gain entry to the University of Melbourne. Jerush has received this offer based on his academic achievements this year as well as his contribution to the school community. Jerush has achieved some outstanding results in his VCE subjects so far and has been an exceptional Year 12 Leader (Arts), supporting the Music Department in a range of school performances (many outside school hours) and encouraging the younger students in their musical gifts. We congratulate Jerush on this fantastic achievement and appreciate the time you have given to the MECS community.
