Today in Cultural Studies, the Senior Primary students made some vegetables (sayuran) for our market (pasar). I am so proud of the hard work they put in making some vegetables look realistic.
We will be having a pretend pasar in the middle of this term, practicing how to buy vegetables (verbally) in Indonesian, using pretend rupiah and produce.

On Thursday 14 September our Year 7s participated in a vibrant and interactive cultural experience thanks to our friends Aaron and Nita from Bagus Kan. Through a series of rotations, students engaged in traditional Indonesian dance and music workshops as well as learning about traditional batik art and badge making. It was also a treat for students to try their hand at riding an Indonesian pedicab known as a becak around the Junior Secondary School basketball court. The day culminated in a wonderful student performance of an ancient folk story told through dance and drama, accompanied by the music of the gamelan orchestra.
These opportunities for cultural connection are so valuable to accompany the language learning in the classroom. We are already looking forward to next year!
