EXAMINATIONS
Year 12 Examinations
Our Year 12 students commence three weeks of WACE Written Exams on Monday 30 October. These exams contribute 50% of the total score towards the calculation of the ATAR for a student, so are obviously an important part of their journey through education. Parents are reminded that the start and finish times are different for WACE exams than for our College Exams. The morning sessions commence at 9.20am and the afternoon sessions commence at 2.00pm. Students are expected to be at the examination venue (near the ISC Carpark) at least 30 minutes prior to the examination start time and will need their personal examination timetable and photo ID (preferably Drivers lLcence or Student ID card).
The Year 12 2023 ATAR course examination timetables are available on the SCSA website.
Personalised examination timetables are available through the SCSA Student portal.
Sickness and/or Misadventure
If a student becomes unwell during the exam period, they must complete a Sickness and/or Misadventure application and have the relevant section completed by their medical practitioner.
Details regarding this process will be emailed to families later this term. These forms must be submitted directly to SCSA from the student and cannot be processed through the College. Please contact Mr Shackleton if you have any questions regarding this.
Year 11 Examinations
Year 11 Examinations will commence on Monday 6 November. Students and families are reminded that the morning sessions commence at 8.30am and the afternoon sessions commence at 1.00pm. Students are expected to be at the examination venue (at the front of L Block) at least 20 minutes prior to the examination start time. The examination timetable is now available on MyASC.
NEXUS-S for Study
Whilst students are on study break for exams, all are welcome to use Nexus-S as a study facility. Students are asked to ensure that they are dressed in College uniform, and follow the normal grooming guidelines whilst on Campus. We ask that students sign in and out of Nexus-S during this period so that the College has a record of who is on site. During this time, students in Years 11–12 may arrive and depart as required.
COURSE CONFIRMATIONS 2024
Students in Years 11 and 12 in 2024 have been sent their course confirmations for next year. Students should contact Mr Shackleton directly if changes are desired, but please note that course changes are limited and subject to availability.
For students in Years 11 and 12 in 2024, full year course changes cannot be made after the end of Week 3, Term 1 2024.
Students in Years 9 and 10 2024 will receive their course confirmations later in Term 4. A strict process for seeking changes to elective subjects will be advised at that time and changes will be able to be made at the commencement of Term 1 next year.
OLNA - YEARS 9 - 10 (SELECT STUDENTS ONLY)
To achieve a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) when completing Year 12, students must meet the minimum Literacy and Numeracy standards.
Students who are yet to achieve the required level will need to sit the next round of Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) scheduled for October this year. Communications have been sent directly to the students and families involved.
The following assessments have been scheduled for select students in Years 9 – 10:
- Literacy Writing: Tuesday 24 October, 9.00am - Rooms F13 and F14
- Numeracy: Monday 30 October, 9.00am - Room C3
- Literacy Reading: Tuesday 31 October, 11.10am - Room G2
We remind students to arrive promptly ready to start.
We encourage students to engage with the OLNA revision resources available on MyASC in preparation for the upcoming assessments.
Board Vacancy: Seeking an Old Saint
We are pleased to invite Expressions of Interest from Old Saints who are interested in joining the ASC College Board (which has oversight of ASC and our Fremantle campus, The Studio School) as a Former Students’ Association nominee from 2024.
Ideally, the Former Students’ Association (FSA) would be keen to meet with Old Saints who are experienced and qualified in the area/s of IT and / or Cybersecurity and / or related fields, and who are able to share their expertise, experience and skills with the College as it continues to build on its outstanding reputation as one of Australia’s leading educational institutions.
Board members must be supportive of the Anglican ethos and the values-driven approach of the College, and relevant experience in governance and the completion of an AICD qualification or similar will be viewed favourably. It is also an expectation that the FSA’s nominee to the Board will be / become an active member of the FSA Committee.
Any enquiries, requests for further information and Expressions of Interest – including a cover letter that outlines your interest in this opportunity, and a current resume – should be addressed to the President of the Former Students’ Association, Sian Angel, and emailed to sian.angel01@gmail.com by 5.00pm on Monday 30 October 2023.
