Pre–Kindergarten Morning Tea
On Wednesday 20 September, the P&F kindly put on an afternoon tea and play event for the 2023 Pre–Kindergarten families to come together in the Kindergarten playground. Parents enjoyed the opportunity to meet one another and to watch their children play as they were entertained by volunteer Year 10 students. Some of the older students fondly remembered their times playing in the Kindergarten at All Saints’ and had fun returning to this place of happy memories. It was a delightful initiative of the P&F to bring our community together.
Bird Life: The Secret Lives of Our Urban Birds
Following the ABC visiting our College, they were truly impressed by the Year 4 classes and their deep passion for birds. While both Year 4 classes have been engaged in Inquiry learning this year, it has been Year 4 C’s inquiry that has progressed in this way. It is quite expected that classes in the same year group end up with different inquiry themes.
You may be familiar with Dr Ann Jones, a nature journalist and self-confessed bird enthusiast, who hosts the series The Secret Lives of our Urban Birds on ABC Catalyst. In this captivating show, Dr Ann Jones embarks on an urban safari to uncover the secret lives of the city's feathery friends. We are thrilled to announce that the ABC team loved the story and passion of All Saints' College, and as a result, they have requested to film an episode at All Saints' College, showcasing our unique story. We will soon provide more details about when this filming will take place in Term 4, and we look forward to sharing updates on this exciting opportunity.
Vacation Care and Holiday Programs
Our School Holiday Program was once again enjoyed and successful, setting a record of 312 attendees to our Holiday programs. We had some exciting guests who provided entertainment to all attendees. Some of the main highlights were:
Aussie Reptile Adventures, where attendees delved into the wonders of our native wildlife. They learned about animals and reptiles' classifications, behaviour, and how to peacefully coexist with reptiles in urban environments. Exciting guests such as lizards, echidnas and many more wowed us all!
Under the Sea Cupcake Creations was also a big hit, decorating and designing your own 3D edible masterpiece, from cute sea turtles to magical mermaid tails. Students used fondant and shimmer powder to add that extra touch of enchantment!
Magicians in the Making was a highlight for many, enjoying Pop's Magic show, and then becoming magic creators, leaving with a show bag filled with tricks and cards to show off their new skills to others!
There were other highlights such as the Young Engineers 'for future engineers and tech wizards'! Completing action packed projects, they were able to build their own robots, engineer motorized Lego machines that came to life and constructed fully functional FM radios.
