Prep - 2:

In Prep and 1/2 we have been learning about Algorithms. We have been learning to follow, describe and represent a sequence of steps in lots of different ways.

An algorithm is a set of actions or steps needed to solve a problem. In coding, this concept applies to the order of steps a computer must follow to achieve a specific outcome. But, this concept can be easily applied to everyday tasks such as cooking, telling a story, and even solving math problems.

3/4:

In 3/4 we have been learning to use the makey makey invention kits. We have practiced setting up the Makey Makey kit and understanding the difference between a conductor and insulator. We did some testing to see which items were conductors, see photos of some of our results below. We will be using the Makey Makey kits to make some interactive posters, so watch this space!

Makey Makey is an invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into. touchpads and combine them with the internet.

5/6:

In 5/6 we were lucky enough to recieve some Merge Cubes from the CSER Lending Library. The Merge Cubes use Augmented Reality to let you hold digital 3D objects (holograms). We used the iPads and Merge Cubes to investigate a range of items that we otherwise would not be able to explore so close up.

Augmented Reality (AR) combines the physical world with the virtual world by superimposing computer-generated images or animations into a real-world environment. Basically, this means that, when you look through the camera of a phone or tablet, a 3D model will appear as if it's in the real world.
