School Council News

The most recent School Council meeting was held on Monday 23rd October 2023.

The meeting opened with a showing of a recently produced video that will go on the school’s new website.

The focus of the President’s report was on the compilation of the School Council for 2024. There is generally around 50% turnover of the parent members of School Council each year. As a result, there is a need to ensure that there are people from the school community available to fill the upcoming vacancies.

The School Council provides the governance oversight and support for the school. Some aspects to note:

  • Time commitment is 2 meetings per term (2-hour School Council meetings) and the term of office is 2 years.
  • Each member will join a subcommittee (Finance, Marketing, Buildings & Grounds, Education) which generally meet once before each Council meeting.
  • Skills that are always sought include: finance, legal, marketing, IT/digital, governance, building/construction.
  • Some of the responsibilities of Council include:
    • approval of budget/school fees
    • reviewing of school policies
    • assisting with marketing activities to promote the school
    • guidance on school building activities
    • providing input into the broad direction and vision of the school

  • Outline of logo process with the aim to finalise by December. It was noted that there would be a long transition to the new logo and that the school colours would remain.
