Reading

CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Reading we are continuing to learn how to infer when we read.

VOCABULARY

Infer: using text clues and prior knowledge to make an educated guess.

Text clues: using the pictures, text, front cover and blurb, to help our understanding of a text.

Schema: information we already know.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Before reading with your child, have them look at the pictures in the text and ask what they can infer about the image. What do they think the text will be about?

Can your child tell you which text clues they used to make this inference?
