Dear Families

As a community it is important for us all to pray for peace, as we navigate these uncertain times.   Peace in our school, peace in our hearts and peace in our world.  We will continue to use education as a vehicle to ensure that as a community we are welcoming of diversity, inclusive of all and give witness to a faith filled community.  We will continue to learn about our First Nations people and acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet.  We will pay our respects to their Elders, past and present and the Aboriginal Elders of other communities who may be within our community.  I invite you to watch and listen to this prayer.  Prayer for peace in Israel and Palestine

On Monday we met Felix and Stitch who help keep our community safe.

2024 Prep Orientation

Our current Preps looked very grown up as they joined our Year 1 students last Tuesday, allowing our 2024 Preps to have their first Orientation. It was great to see our ‘new’ Preps joining in the various activities on offer for the session and enjoy book 'The Wild Guide to Starting School'.  Mrs Borgese let them in on a little school secret ‘that at school when you want to ask a question you put your hand up!' Equally importantly the parents of our new Preps enjoyed a morning tea, hosted by our wonderful P & F members.  We look forward to their next Orientation session on Tuesday 31st October at 9:30am.

Year 3 Reconciliation this evening

We pray for our Year 3 students who are making their Sacrament of Reconciliation. Tonight they will deepen their relationship with God and in turn those around them. Thank you to Ms Jes Earle, Miss Paula and Father Jerome for their preparation.

Colour Explosion

Congratulations to our Community Leaders and ably supported by the Sports Leaders to get this event up and running with several staff supporting behind the scenes.  Miss Kat and Mrs Borgese are in the final stages of completing the requirements.  All proceeds raised will go towards landscaping the front and side of the school.  We are in the final stages of the plans and hope to have some 3D images of the project to share with you soon.  Thanks for your feedback, as a great deal was learnt.  We now have many ideas for 2025.  Although I was a bit worried when I returned from being offsite to see someone that resembled Mr Speranza and all the staff wearing hazmat suits/painting coveralls…

Referendum/Democracy Sausage

An enormous thank you to many for our highly successful Democracy Sausage Sizzle. From the early morning starting team to those that served, cooked, flipped, baked and sold sweet treats, to those that helped pack up - thank you.  It was great seeing many of you throughout the day and the event was a sell out.  Due to our highly efficient and well tuned P & F team, we are a well oiled democracy sausage machine.

Sharing learning

This week I had the privilege of listening to some of the Year 6 students sharing their Stories in a suitcase - A story of Migration to Australia. I was informed that this was a test run and that the real sharing was with the Year 5 students early next week, as both year levels participated in the Faith Based Inquiry (FBI) unit together.

Some Year 2 students dropped by to share their persuasive texts advertising the Fete. They won me over and I will most certainly be attending our Fete on Saturday 18th November.  I was also quite surprised, when on duty yesterday morning, I saw a few students coming to school in their dressing gowns and oodies.  The students assured me that they had not forgotten to get dressed but were preparing for the upcoming Year 2 Sleep Over.

World Teachers’ Day

Please note that next Friday is World Teachers’ Day.  It would be great if our community spoke/emailed/made a little card or drawing to our hardworking and highly professional staff, thanking them for all that they do for our students and community.  Each of our staff members goes above and beyond to care for our students, your children in all that they do.

Please note that our Carols date has been moved to Tuesday 12th December 5:00pm. St Mary’s College kindly shares their facilities with us and the venue had been double booked.

Take care and wishing God's blessings and peace upon each of you.
