Buildings Works Update

The new science building, secondary toilet block and outdoor college café area are all taking shape.    It is likely that these new facilities will be handed over to the school before the end of the year which is good news.   The two new wheelchair ramps have been completed and handed over to the school to use.  This means that we have disability access to every area of the school.   We look forward to the seeing the new gardens and grass areas flourish.    Unfortunately there has been a considerable delay with steel works on the KLC. It will be out of action until Term 1, 2025.

Year 7 Information Night

Thank you to all the parents and students who were able to attend the Year 7 2025 Information Evening on Monday night. Well done to Kirsten Graham, our Year 7 & Transition Coordinator, who did an excellent job in organising the session and the half day transition activities held earlier in the day.   Thanks to Kylie for looking after us with the College Café catering. There will be two more transition days in Term 4, the first on 15th October and last one on the 4th December. Please note, these will be for the whole day.

School Council

A reminder next School Council meeting will be held on site Monday 9th September at   6 p.m.   We will resume face to face meetings for the rest of the year now that the weather has picked up.

Youth Week 2024

We have scaled back Youth Week this year due to the fact we have had a few extra events throughout Term 3.  We still have a few activities planned before the end of the year with RU OKAY Day, Footy Colours Day, Years 4/5/6  school camp and a Year 11 school wide  activity to enjoy.

RU Okay Day

Next Thursday 12th September is R U Okay Day.  We will be having some RU Okay day activities at school during our homegroup session.  The same day we are also hosting 40 school principals from the Loddon Campaspe Region who are looking at our SWBPS and also conducting a meeting at Donaldson Park.

In 1995, much-loved Barry Larkin was far from OK. His suicide left family and friends in deep grief and with endless questions. In 2009, his son Gavin Larkin chose to champion just one question to honour his father and to try and protect other families from the pain his endured: 'Are you OK?'.

To genuinely change behaviour Australia-wide, a national campaign was needed. And from this realisation, and with Gavin and Janina’s expertise and passion, R U OK? was born. Gavin remained a passionate champion of the fact a conversation could change a life, even as cancer ended his in 2011. His legacy is a national Conversation Movement that is equipping Australians with the skills and confidence to support those struggling with life.

R U OK? was born from lived experience. The valuable insights, storytelling, and expertise of those with lived experience continues to be weaved throughout everything we do. Across our team, Board, Advisory Groups and Ambassadors, we remain respectful and proud of those who share their journeys to help continually improve our work.

Got a feeling that someone you know or care about isn’t behaving as they normally would? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or they’re just not themselves. Trust that gut instinct and act on it. Learn more about the signs and when it's time to ask R U OK? here.

By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, you can follow our conversation steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask.

Submit for the Wedderburn College Cookbook

On the 1st of July 2025 it will be 160 years to the day when a school officially opened in Wedderburn.  The 160 Years of Education will be celebrated the last week of Term 2, 2025 with a variety of activities across the week to embrace this monumental occasion.  One of the key features of the celebrations will be the launch of a hard cover, 200 page, coffee table recipe & history book.   We are now calling on families to submit their favorite recipes or Grandmas greatest hidden secrets to be considered for publication in this important book. Please understand that we are happy to take several recipes from families and community members, however it will not be possible for every recipe to be published. Not everyone will have a recipe published.  We have the rest of this term to submit recipes. Please use the format attached to submit your recipes, see below.
