From The Acting Principal

Stephen Arthurson

Dear Families,

Another Friday, another “Big Event” at St Anne’s. We are blessed as a school community to have such a collective spirit of participation, inclusion and fun, a spirit that is always evident on days such as today. Check out some of the photos from this morning’s Book Parade at the bottom of this section.

In this newsletter I draw your attention to the following information

  • MACSIS Surveys
  • October Parish Census
  • School Advisory Council summary

MACSIS Family Surveys

  • If you are interested in completing the annual MACSIS Family Opinion survey and don’t already have login details, please email Emma to get yours - ecoulson@sasunbury.catholic.edu.au
  • The survey is anonymous and takes between 10-15 minutes to complete. Last year we had 45 families out of 405 complete it. We are trying to beat that number this year!
  • Parents if you are available Wednesday morning 8.45am-9.15am, please join us in the staffroom for ‘Survey and Scones’ - we will have computers set-up ready to go, enjoy a scone while you complete the survey, we value your opinion.
  • All families who complete the survey will go in the draw to win one of five $20 canteen vouchers.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Census

  • During October, each member of the parish community will be invited to participate in the parish’s census process.
  • Families are invited to complete a census form which will be sent home early next term. Only basic information such as family name, address and contact details are required.
  • Data from the census will enable the parish to plan for important events, including a thanksgiving donation program next year.
  • Please be assured that all information will be treated with confidentiality as maintaining your privacy is essential.
  • Stay tuned for more information about how you can be involved in this important Parish initiative.

School Advisory Council (SAC)

  • Our School Advisory Council met twice during Term Three, with key agenda items including
    • Mathematics at St Anne’s - presented by Maths Leaders Eamon Light & Jill Marr
    • Specialist Program - presented by Lindy Brown (Perf Arts) and Jo Hannan (DDT)
    • NCCD funding and support for students requiring levels of adjustment
    • OSH Club, and the potential involvement of MACS Early Years Education in coming years
    • First Aid procedures, including for head knocks and head injuries - see below for a copy of our Head Injury guidelines
  • A sub-committee of the SAC has explored a uniform refresh, taking into account issues such as
    • Consolidating uniform to one supplier, particularly with Lynne’s upcoming retirement
    • Greater accessibility to a uniform shop
    • Durability and ease of washing of all uniform items
  • Your opinion will be sought via a short survey early next term, with any changes decided upon not coming into place until the 2026 school year at the earliest. Watch this space!
  • If you have any issues you’d like brought to the SAC’s attention, please email sac@sasunbury.catholic.edu.au. Our next meeting is on November 7th at 6:30pm.

Disco Day

  • Our End of Term 3 Disco will be held on the last day of term, Thursday 19th October. As we have access to the amazing talents of our very own DJ O-E-O, students will visit the Disco with their year levels at set times during the day. They can wear casual clothes with the theme "Dress to impress” or “Dress to Dance”. We look forward to a fun filled day as we celebrate what a wonderful Term 3 we have had.
