The Year in PE and Sport

The year kicked off with a bang as Sports Day took place in Term 1 of 2024! Students came together, proudly representing their teams in vibrant colours, showcasing both competitive spirit and sportsmanship.

A big congratulations to Torrens for taking home the Sports Day Trophy, and to Light for winning the inaugural Spirit Cup!

Throughout the year, students have actively participated in PE lessons. Junior Primary students have focused on developing their fundamental movement skills and gross motor skills.

In contrast, Primary students have been honing their skills and game strategies across a variety of sports, including invasion games, net/wall games, target games, and striking and hitting games.

The SAPSASA program has been a huge success this year, with students competing in basketball, soccer, netball, and athletics. Over 55 students joined the teams, with an emphasis on participation and enjoyment. We’ve seen great achievements in 2024, especially in netball and soccer, while both basketball teams showed improvement over last year’s performance.

Physical activity and sport is a great way for students to stay healthy and develop skills in working together with others. We look forward to seeing our students' enthusiasm as they participate in their Health & PE lessons and SAPSASA opportunities in 2025.
