From the Leadership Team
World Teachers' Day
Today is World Teachers' Day - an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the immense
effort and dedication that teachers put into their work. We have a fabulous team of teachers at Para Vista Primary School who work so hard to support our students and provide quality learning experiences for everyone. We value and appreciate our teachers and hope they enjoyed celebrating with our staff team.
We thank them for all that they do - today and every day.
The Planning Begins...
This term we have begun to undertake many processes to plan for 2025. One of these is determining our class configurations, staffing and placement of students. When determining student class placements, we will dedicate time for our staff to discuss each student and their appropriate place for 2025. These discussions are informed by student learning, social and emotional needs, peer, friend and staff connections and other additional supports required. All decisions are made with the best interest of the student at the centre of discussions. This process takes many weeks and our plan is to share 2025 class placements in the last week of term.
An important part of this process is parent involvement and giving families the opportunity to provide any information that may assist with appropriate placements. Please note that due to the staffing process, requests for specific teachers will not be able to be taken into consideration.
If you have information you'd like us to take into account for your child, please email parent.support483@schools.sa.edu.au by Friday November 8th.
Another piece of information which supports our planning is knowing when families are planning to begin 2025 at another school. If you currently have children in Reception-Year 5 who won't be returning to Para Vista Primary School in 2025, please contact the office or email us parent.support483@schools.sa.edu.au ASAP. This information is crucial to us in our planning process.
Staffing
We have already been working through processes which determine our necessary staffing for 2025. So far, we have some of our permanent staff returning to full time positions and have had a permanent teacher from country SA placed with us too. This will mean that unfortunately there won't be as many contract positions available for 2025, resulting in some changes at the end of the year. We will inform families of our teaching staff for 2025 as all of the information is confirmed later in the term.
Congratulations to Lisa McMahon, our Intervention and Inclusion Leader, who has won an Assistant Principal position beginning in 2025 at Swallowcliffe Primary School. Lisa has been at Para Vista for many years and whilst we will be sad to say goodbye, we are excited for Lisa to begin this new part of her leadership journey.
Car Park
The staff car park near Don St is a busy space, particularly before and after school. We have had many instances reported recently of students walking through the carpark, meaning they are putting themself in an unsafe position. We encourage families to speak with children about using the paths and model this safe behaviour to them. This also applies to students who are dropped off and picked up from OSHC. We ask parents to walk their children to the steps/pick up from the steps if they are not going to the door. The garden bed from OSHC doesn't have a path through it and ask that families don't use this as a way to access OSHC. Just a reminder too that the carpark has a 5km/hr speed limit and should only be accessed by parents for OSHC drop offs and collections.
We thank everyone for helping us keep our students safe.
Enjoy the Spring weather!
