In addition to the objective of building an inclusive, friendly, and welcoming community, the P&F also raises funds to assist with providing resources and opportunities that enrich the school's learning environment. Two important projects were approved for funding of $6000 each at our last meeting.
Upgrade of Audiovisual Equipment for Performing Arts
At the last meeting of the P&F the Committee agreed to provide Kinross Wolaroi School Performing Arts with the necessary funds to buy a good quality video camera with condenser microphone, stand and memory card.
Drama and Music classes routinely record performances, showcases and assessments to help support student learning in these subjects. Recordings allow students to critically analyse, reflect and refine their performances. They also provide staff and students with quality records of exemplar works and allow students and their families access to recordings of performances.
The School has a proud history of its HSC Drama and Music students being nominated for OnStage and Encore. OnStage and Encore are NESA’s showcases of exemplary performances in HSC Drama and Music. The process for a student’s inclusion in OnStage and Encore includes submission of a good quality video of their HSC performances.
The upgrade will provide a quality camera with a quality microphone, memory card and stand. This set up would allow the faculty to create excellent quality recording of students work in Performing Arts, Pre-K to Year 12.
New Starting Blocks for Swimmers
Our swimming program is a tremendous source of pride and accomplishment for our students, Swim Club members, and the wider community and the P&F also voted to provide financial support towards the upgrade of the School's starting blocks, with the remainder being raised in the community.
While our swimming infrastructure saw significant improvements in 2023, including upgraded pool decks, new dosing calibration unit, new heating systems, and Air Pears for temperature stabilisation, our starting blocks are showing their age.
To maintain a competitive edge, swimming wishes to replace our eight worn-out starting blocks with state-of-the-art Omega starting blocks, with a goal to raise $44,000 to install eight new Omega starting blocks at the Eric Solling Pool.
The pool is used by every student in the school at some point in their school life. It is home to our swim school, swimming squads, swimming club and our nationally recognised swim team. We have the Junior school utilising the pool on a weekly basis in a range of activities from Learn to Swim intensives through to mandatory PE lessons. We also utilise our pool for an array of swimming carnivals throughout the year including the Junior School Swimming Carnival, Senior Championship Carnival, Western Schools Association & swim club related meets for local area competitions/time trials.
The Junior School P&F have also decided to support this fundraising - details below.
The Kinross Wolaroi School swimming program is a tremendous source of pride and accomplishment for our students, Swim Club members, and the wider community. While our swimming facilities underwent significant improvements in 2023, there is still work to be done.
The funds raised from this raffle will be directed towards the installation of new swimming blocks, further enhancing our program and ensuring that our swimmers have access to top-quality equipment for their training and competitions.
Kinross Wolaroi School's goal is to raise $44,000 to install eight new Omega starting blocks at the Eric Solling Pool. One generous family has already committed to donating two blocks, and the P&F is also donating one block. However, we need the support of our entire community to reach our goal. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to providing a world class experience for our swimmers.
The pool is used by every student in the school at some point in their school life. It is home to the Kinross Wolaroi School swim school, swimming squads, and the nationally recognised swim team. It is also used extensively by the Junior School for learn-to-swim sessions and the swimming carnival.
