In Term 3, the grade 1's had the amazing opportunity to visit The Melbourne Zoo. As part of our inquiry topic Living Things - Animals, students had the chance to explore and learn about animals' habitats and body features. Students saw water and land animals. They loved seeing the meerkats and enjoyed a close-up experience with tortoises.

At the end of Term 3 we had an Excursion to Nangak Tamboree Wildlife Sanctuary where students continued to learn about the life cycle of animals and how important habitats are to the survival of our Australian animals.
On Tuesday 27th of August the Grade 3 students visited the MCG and Sports Museum. It was great to have a tour of the MCG, learn about Australian sports history in the museum and play interactive fitness games at 'Game On'.

The grade 6 students had an unforgettable experience during their visit to the Melbourne Zoo! The excursion provided a fantastic opportunity for them to explore the fascinating world of animal adaptations, which we have been learning about in class prior to our trip.
Throughout their visit, the students engaged in hands-on activities, including examining animal skulls, which helped them understand how various animals have evolved unique features to survive and thrive in their environments.
Therapy Dog
At Aitken Hill Primary School we have been very lucky to have not just 1 but 2 therapy dogs! Their names are Mini and Victor. They have assisted students in breaking down their barriers and bringing some much-needed happiness and a change to mentality for the better. The feedback we have received so far for this program has been nothing but positive and we will continue to provide this service into Term 4 also.
House Spirit Carnival
In the last week of Term 3 the whole school was involved in our House spirt carnival where students got to dress up in their house colours and participate in numerous activity stations from dancing to yoga and an obstacle course. This created a sense of purpose and introduced team work to help excel their house colours.
Footy Dress Up Day
We had Footy dress up day on the final week of Term 3 and it was great to see an array of AFL, rugby and soccer tops. Big thank you to the P.E team in running a longest kick competition available for all year levels where the winner can get a football. It was fantastic to see friends cheering each other on to try their best.
