Bell and Estelle
Students from Prep to Year 6 have blown us away with the skills and perseverance that they have demonstrated during our Pop Art Unit in Term 3. They explored a range of art forms and media influenced by cartoons, advertising and popular imagery. They have also examined a range of Pop Artists who used the culture of their times to inspire new and unseen styles. This exploration has allowed students to use their creativity and imagination to design and produce their own style of pop artwork.
Students have been inspired by famous Pop Artists Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Roy Lichtenstien. Each Year level were able to refine and apply new skills in creating some truly incredible art works in the style of these artists.
Prep to Year 2
Students from P to 2 have explored a series of works by Andy Warhol focusing on his famous quadrant style and repetitive imagery. They have done at an amazing job at building on their colouring and fine motor skills through the implementation of contrasting and complementary colours and have created a range of delicious colour blocking works.
Year 3/4
Grades 3 and 4 and have taken inspiration from the works of Roy Lichtenstein, applying bold graphics and saturated colours to bring their works to life. Using skills developed in their earlier Isometric unit, they have pieced together some incredible 3D paper art pieces.
Year 5/6
Grade 5 and 6 students have been working on incorporating Keith Haring's work into their own art using line work to create the feeling of movement in 2D works. Students have shown great engagement in this project and have created some amazing artworks that reflect their own styles and imaginings.
Coming up in VA
This term we are again using our art skills to create a Whole School Collaborative Yarn Bombing. Students will expand their knowledge of fibre art forms and techniques to further develop their fine motor skills. They will engage in different braiding techniques. At the end of term, we are excited to showcase their work and projects around the school.
