Grades 5 & 6 Newsletter

Throughout this term and last semester, both Grade 5 and 6 students have been working on creating an informative text that outlines a little bit about themselves and their family.

Last term, students worked on learning some present tense verbs and what they mean. Students focused on learning how to conjugate seven simple present tense verbs. Ie giocare to play, mangiare to eat, cantare to sing, andare to go, fare to do or make,  abitare to live  and  parlare to , according to the one of the 7 pronouns ie io, tu, lei /lui, voi, noi, loro.

This term, students have used this information to create a simple informative text. All sentences include one of the simple present tense verbs, subject and objects using supportive resources and word lists to assist their construction. Several students have created complex sentences, which has been incredible to witness, and enabled the shaping of the creativity for their digital book.

Students will then create a digital book to showcase their wonderful hard work and creativity using Canva for this unit of work. In this, students creatively insert cartoon images of themselves, family members, pets included, a voice over and / or footage of themselves reading each page.

However I cannot insert the final product yet as we are steadily working towards completion.  I am looking forward to seeing the final product. The links will be in each student’s Italian Google Classroom next term if you would like to see your child’s wonderful work in Italian.

 Gracie mille, Signora Marson.
