Grade 6

Wow, what a busy term we’ve had in Grade 6! This term has been packed with special events, each of which we’ve connected to our units of work. We’ve celebrated and participated in the Olympics, Book Week, Father’s Day, Swimming, First Aid, and MasterChef.

In Maths, we followed the Olympics closely and held our own math-based ‘Wacky Olympics.’ We also created our own Olympic village, using our knowledge of shapes and measurements to design the villages.

In Integrated Studies, our students explored physics and chemistry through various experiments and research tasks. After conducting these scientific experiments, the students wrote reports based on their findings.

In English, we celebrated Book Week with enthusiasm. Authors PJ and Jules Ober visited us and taught us about storytelling through photography. Inspired by mentor texts, the students created their own books for younger readers, incorporating photography as a key element of their stories.

In the next two weeks, students will compete in our MasterChef challenge. In pairs, they will prepare a main meal and dessert. The teams will be judged on creativity, teamwork, cleanliness, taste, and presentation. We are excited for this competition and eager to see the students showcase their culinary skills.
