Grade 5

Term 3 has been an incredibly busy one for everyone, and it hasn’t finished yet! We have been so lucky with the many events that have been organised; the input from our students has definitely added an extra level of enjoyment to the term.

We asked some of our Grade 5 students to write a brief report on some of our Term 3 events; we hope you enjoy reading what they had to say:

Buddies (Olympic medals) - Ollie, 5MD

A few weeks ago we saw our Buddies! During the Buddy session we got to design awesome Olympic medals to take home! We had to decorate them with any sport we chose! The Prep Buddies got to take the big one home and we got to take the small one home. It was so fun designing the Olympic medals with our Buddies!

Anna Ciddor Book Week visit - Vishwa, 5MD

On the 19th of August, we had an author visit. Her name was Anna Ciddor, and she showed her newly written books. Each class of grade 5 were reading different books that Anna Ciddor had made. The books we read were The boy who stepped through time, The family with two front doors and A message through time. We got to hold old items from over a 100 years ago from a religious Jewish box. Ciddor is a Jewish author. We had a lot of fun, and would highly recommend her books. She even told us a new book that is coming out in March 2025.

Anti-bullying Hearts - Zara Edwards, 5TW

On Friday the 16th of August, Oatlands stood up against bullying! The slogan was “Bullying, No Way”. The theme was “Everyone Belongs”. In class the grades created hearts to wear to assembly. We coloured them in and hung them around our necks or we pinned them on our shirts. Wearing the hearts represented standing up against bullying and that everyone belongs. There is no place for bullying at Oatlands.

Fathers Day Breaky - Evie, 5TW

On Friday the 30th of August, our fathers came to our school to celebrate Fathers Day.

All of our fathers watched a presentation in the school gym for about half an hour. Soon after they made their way to our classrooms. In grade 5, our dads played dodgeball out on the oval with us. They threw at us but then we got payback and got to throw at them! Soon after we did a fathers day quiz where we had to guess everything right about our dads. Before our fathers left, we all had snack with them. Our fathers clearly made it an amazing day.
