Principal Report
It has been a very big term at Oatlands, with a full range of exciting events and important celebrations taking place over the last 8 weeks. One constant through our classroom learning and all these events and our school as a whole, is our core values and culture of respect, kindness, resilience, effort and creativity across classrooms, year levels and our school as a whole. When we talk about these core values, what is really important is the demonstration of the behaviours associated with them. Often these are simple things, but they make a difference to our school environment.
Examples of these behaviours include:
- Saying ‘Good morning’ and ‘Good afternoon’
- Smiling when you see other people
- Greeting people you walk past
- Holding a door open for another person
- Helping others
- Asking someone if they need help
- Caring for people
What we do and how we behave makes a difference, not only for ourselves, but for those around us. Simple actions like this have the potential to change your day and the day of those around us. This comes down to what type of school we want to learn in, what type of community we want to be a part of and what type of society we want to live in. This can best happen through living the values that make us a better person, our school a better school and our society a better place.

Wes Holloway
