Acting Principal's Message

Thank you St Andrew's Community!

PRAYER FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Thank You, loving God, for times of refreshment and opportunities to have a holiday,

so that we may be renewed in body, soul and spirit.

We thank you for the gift of enjoying different and new experiences.

May our time away be one that is filled with fun and the joy of friendship.

May our hearts be filled with happiness and peace and may we laugh often.

We praise you for this special gift,

 Amen.

Parents Guide to Vision for Instruction

In February 2024, MACS changed the way reading, writing and mathematics are taught in its 300 primary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Vision for Instruction promotes explicit instruction, a way of teaching in which complex skills are introduced to students in small steps, supported by clear explanations and demonstrations of what students are expected to learn. Students then practise what they have learned and receive feedback from their teacher until the skill is mastered.

MACS is leading explicit instruction and evidence-based practice education in Victoria to achieve teaching and learning excellence.

To find out what becoming a flourishing learner means for your child, and how you can help, read Parents Guide to Vision for Instruction and ask your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

School Saving Bonus information for parents

The Allan Labor Government is making life that little bit easier for families, by providing a one off $400 School Saving Bonus.

Non-government school students who will be in Prep through to Year 12 in 2025, and who are receiving the means-tested Camps, Sports and Excursion Fund (CSEF), are eligible for the School Saving Bonus.

Parents and carers do not need to apply, with the School Saving Bonus being paid to non-government schools for eligible students from late November 2024.

The $400 School Saving Bonus is available for each child. That means an eligible family with three school aged children will receive a total of $1,200.

Importantly, the School Saving Bonus is available in addition to the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund.
