A term in Performing Arts
Prep
The Prep students have been developing their skills in music and drama. Students have designed and created paper puppets, we used these to create a short play. The students really enjoyed performing to their peers. In music, we have been learning about tempo, rhythm and pitch. We have learned about a variety percussion instruments and how to play them correctly.
Grade 1/2
The Grade 1/2 students have continued to develop skills in drama and music. The students enjoyed learning how to play the glockenspiel. We have been exploring pitch, rhythm, and tempo. The classes have also explored a variety of percussion instruments. In drama, we enjoyed developing a character using puppets. We used these puppets to give a presentation to the class. This activity was very fun, and the students really enjoyed sharing with their peers.
Grade 3/4
The Grade 3/4 students have been developing their own scripted play in drama. These skills have been a great way for students to use their creativity to develop their own character. The students rehearsed, recorded, and edited their play. We had lots of imagination and fun while acting. Students have continued to gain confidence in drama activities while focusing on working both independently and collaboratively.
Grade 5/6
The Grade 5/6 students have developed a scripted play in drama. The students have shown great commitment while creating these plays. The students have written, rehearsed, recorded, directed, and edited their plays. I have observed some fantastic acting skills and collaboration during our lessons. I have enjoyed watching many students take leadership and gain confidence.
State School Spectacular
On the 14th of September, our State School Spectacular students performed at John Cain Arena. It was a fabulous event, and I was so proud of how well they represented Box Hill North PS. It was a wonderful experience to perform in front of such a large audience. I commend the group on all their dedication to rehearsals and the show. What a great experience and many memorable moments.
