Cultural Celebrations in 1/2C

This week, 1/2C learnt about the Onam festival that is celebrated in South India (Kerala).

Onam is an annual harvest festival that is celebrated by decorating the house with flowers at the entrance and having a traditional south Indian meal on a banana leaf.  1/2C created their own flower decoration for the classroom.

Basketball Fun

Our grade 3/4s enjoyed a day of basketball fun at Koonung Secondary this week!  Big thanks to the year 11 Koonung students to running the day.  Everyone had lots of fun!

Grade 1/2 Pizza Day

The Year 1/2 completed our mini maths project with our Pizza Restaurant Day! The students had lots of fun making and eating pizza. Leading up to the day, the students had designed pizzas using shapes, designed the restaurant seating and worked out how much money it would cost to run the restaurant. The project enabled real life application of various mathematical concepts.

We would especially like to the thank the parent volunteers who helped out. We could not have done it without you.

State School Spectacular

Last week our students displayed Courage, Ambition, Creativity and Compassion whilst participating in the Victorian State School Spectacular! Rehearsals were held on Thursday and Friday, before the main performances on Saturday afternoon and evening. What a delight it was to watch students perform such eye-catching choreography in dazzling costumes! Yasmin and I attended the Saturday afternoon show with many parents, and we had absolute stars in our eyes the entire show! Thank you to Kim, Matt and Bonnie for their help supporting student rehearsals and costumes, making sure our students had the chance to shine so brightly!
