Principal's Report
Just when we thought we couldn’t top Week 9, we are topping off Term 3 with a fun-filled week of celebrations before we head into the holidays!
Hoop Time
Year 3 and 4 students attended Koonung Secondary School and Mullum Mullum Stadium for their highly-anticipated basketball games. Thank you to Koonung Secondary students and staff for allowing us to use their facilities and assisting us throughout the day. Thank you also to our Year 6 coaches whoworked with the younger students to ensure a successful day was had.
Prep Firefighter Visit
The second visit from our local firefighters was more exciting than the first for two reasons:
Zowie Day
Today is Zowie Day – a School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Celebration Day that students have earned by displaying our school values – Compassion, Courage, Ambition and Creativity. Congratulations to all students for their wonderful efforts this term, enjoy your movies and fun activities. I’m so proud of you!
Japan Trip
After months of planning, meetings, approvals and excitement, our Japan 2024 Team are finally set to fly out on October 1st! What an exciting opportunity for 18 of our Years 5 and 6 students to be able to travel internationally and be immersed in the Japanese language and culture for ten days, enhancing their personal, social and cultural capacities. Thank you to Sensei Rachel for her clear communication and attention to detail in planning this trip. Thank you also to Mie-Mie and Ainslie for their attendance on this trip. We wish everyone a fantastic and educational trip, smooth flights and solid sleeps. We can’t wait to hear all about it when you return!
Year 3 and 4 Camp Arrabri
On the first three days of Term 4, our Years 3 and 4 students (and staff) will be heading off to Camp Arrabri to learn a range of skills, especially focussed on our school values of Ambition, Courage, Compassion and Creativity. They will problem-solve, develop teamwork skills, push through their fears and take risks while cheering each other on through every activity. We wish them all the very best in their adventures! I’m especially looking forward to joining them for a day, to get into the adventure with them all!
Thank you to the staff and parent volunteers who are attending this camp with our students. We could not provide our students with these opportunities without you. Have a fantastic time, everyone!
As we wrap up Term 3, we will celebrate with a Sports Day on Friday. This day will include:
Sports Dress-Up
Students will come to school dressed in their favourite sports clothes – I’d love to see as many students as possible wearing Essendon Bombers clothes.
Special Lunch Order
Classroom Cuisine has organised a special hotdog lunch for any students who submitted orders.
Staff Vs Students Volleyball
School staff aren’t generally a competitive bunch (*cough cough*) but this Volleyball match between school staff and Year 6 students is set to go down in history as one of the great matches of 2024. We will be sure to let you all know the results (staff victory, most likely) via Compass on Friday. We wish our Year 6s the very best of luck!
Whole School Assembly
We will hold our Assembly at 2pm on Friday, as school finishes at 2.30pm. Please come along and join us to enjoy some Prep Puppet Shows, our Sports Day Raffle and the announcement of who won the Staff Vs Students Volleyball match!
