Learning and Curriculum Primary - Stage 3
Stage 3 Open Classrooms
The Stage 3 Open Classrooms held last week were a huge success. Thank you to the families who were able to join us. As you can see from the below comments from families, it was a great opportunity for all learners to present their work in interesting and creative ways and for families to engage in all the great learning activities that have been taking place.
Year 5 Open Classrooms - Wednesday 18 September
What an impressive display of historical knowledge! It was delightful to see the thoughtfulness and creativity that went into each of the presentations! Well done boys! I learned so much about life on the goldfields and colonial times!
Mother of Gerard E – 5 Orange
A wonderful interactive showcase! Not only does it require the boys to be armed with in-depth knowledge of the subjects (character profiling and Gold Rush era), but it also allows students to display their own interpretations through amazing creativity. Well done boys!
Mother of Dylan C - 5 Blue
It was great to see the boys in their element. They really owned their character and engaged beautifully with the parents and each other. What a great initiative for the boys to showcase their learning and creativity. My favourite was definitely the scones and jam incentive for asking a question.
Mother of Noah P - 5 Orange
It was great seeing all the magnificent work done by the boys.
Father of Yul C – 5 Red
What a great morning had by both students and parents. The boys were so proud of the work and effort they put into this assessment. Some of the costumes and exhibits were quite impressive. The boys in 5 Black each had the opportunity to tell us a fact about their character.
Mother of Zac B – 5 Black
Wow - the Gold Rush projects were amazing! What a huge effort from all the boys… and parents! Well done.
Mother of Christian J – 5 Blue
I was thoroughly impressed not only with the content presented in such clever and creative ways, but also with the boys. The way they spoke with pride and confidence when describing their character to all the parents is a credit to them all.
Mother of Patrick J – 5 Red
What a great way to learn. Well done to all the boys and teachers for their presentations. The assignment not only allowed the boys to learn about an historical era but also needed to use their planning, organising and creative skills.
Father of Thomas S – 5 White
Year 6 Open Classrooms - Thursday 19 September
6 Green was an explosion of enthusiasm, colour and hands-on fun. These boys have been busy! Plenty of selfies with our boys and their projects had us all smiling. Keep up the great work Mr McCarthy.
(Mother of Rafa M – 6 Green)
I really enjoyed the open day. I got to see some of the amazing work that my son and all the students got to do. It was nice to be in the environment that my son has been in all year.
(Father of Vassillios L – 6 Green)
I was amazed and in awe of the presentation prepared by the 6 Red boys, and to see them take great pride in their work and projects. I saw some amazing items that were made using upcycled materials, such as a table, goal post and basketball hoop, just to name a few. It is great to see them bring an idea to life.
(Mother of Patrick P – 6 Red)
All students in the classroom were bright and kind, and I am grateful to Mr. O’Connor for fostering such an environment.
(Mother of Ryan L – 6 Gold)
I appreciated the variety of presentations showcased this morning by some of the boys! I also enjoyed looking through Daniel’s workbooks and seeing what he’s achieved during the year!
(Mother of Daniel C – 6 Blue)
Thank you for the opportunity to have a glimpse into the classroom world of my Year 6 son Ryan. It’s lovely to see what he’s been working on in class, his writing and his project I’ve heard all about.
(Mother of Ryan M – 6 Black)
We thoroughly enjoyed the Year 6 Open Classrooms on Thursday. It was a great way for us as parents to see how the boys interact with one another and understand some of the projects they’ve been working on in class time. We heard from musicians and slam poets in the class, explored the boys' Shark Tank inventions and saw the work they are most proud of from the year to date. It was a lovely morning with 6 White.
(Mother of Marlo B – 6 White)
Thank you. A splendid opportunity to observe what is being taught in the classroom and a privilege to support our grandson, Darcy Prout.
(Grandparents of Darcy P – 6 Green)
It was heartwarming to see my son and his classmates beaming with pride when sharing their Haiku or Slam Poetry works or their team Shark Tank projects. Big smiles were shown when talking through their written work on Matilda or research done on countries on their Travel project.
(Mother of Lachlan T – 6 White)
Mr van der Meer and 6 White blew me away with their organisation of the event and the showcase of creativity and diversity in learning. Not only did we see projects students put a lot of effort into, but we had some speeches and a band play! Are these kids really in Year 6? A big thank you to Mr van der Meer for helping our kids showcase their work where he inspires them and brings creativity into learning to be the best they can be. (Mother of Sebastian A – 6 White)
It was a great way for the boys to consolidate their learning and showcase this to their parents who thrive on seeing what their children are learning, including the environment in which they are learning in. A highlight was the creativity and fun that the boys showcased, from their creation of recycled material.
(Mother of Marco J – 6 Orange)
I was quite emotional seeing Matthew and his peers in their element. Confident, engaged, and inquisitive young learners proudly celebrating the gift of their education. Through collaborative activities and creative expression, the students were empowered to share their ideas, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect.
(Mother of Matthew N – 6 White)
I was amazed at how well-planned, thought out and executed the projects were. The boys were all proud of their work and eager to explain the details of their projects and, to be honest, they all sounded a lot more mature than a sixth grader.
(Father of Michael D – 6 Gold)
It was so nice to be able to visit Liam's Classroom last Thursday and see his school learning in person. We had heard so much about his class work and projects from home, so it was wonderful to be able to appreciate them in person!
(Mother of Liam B – 6 Green)
