Co-curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

Term 3 was one of the longest terms of the year in time at school. However, it feels like if you blinked you would have missed it. For a term that had a reduced amount of sport in it, there was still much to be done.

Well done to all the boys for the manner in which they carried themselves during sport photos. Your readiness and timely attendance made for the smooth running of the day. There are still a few steps to go through before photos will be available to order. Once the photos are ready, I will put information on how to order them in the Especean.

A reminder that Summer sport resumes on our return to school in Term 4. Monday 14 October is a staff development day, so training will begin as per the schedule from Tuesday 15 October. The draft training schedule is available on the College App and has been placed in all the classrooms. All boys should be aware of where and when they will be training for Summer sport. The season will run for the first six weeks of the term, concluding on Saturday 23 November. I look forward to seeing all the boys back out on the fields, diamonds and courts next term.

Over the second half of this term, boys across Year 5 and Year 6 have been involved in a knockout chess competition. Many boys gave up their lunchtimes, chasing the opportunity to have their name placed on the winner’s shield. After many checks, counter checks, and checkmates, it came down to the final two. In a tight contest, which saw many exciting moves, Yul Choi and Cormac Wolfenden went piece for piece early on. After a few tense moments it was Yul Choi that took the victory. Congratulations to Yul on his victory and to all the boys that gave up freely of their lunchtimes to be involved. We look forward to seeing Yul return in 2025 to defend his crown and hope to see many more chess enthusiasts involved.

I wish everyone a safe and happy term break. May you all find the time to rest, recharge and relax with your families. Stay safe and I look forward to seeing you again in Term 4.
