Message from the Principal Team

Week 10 Term 3

Dear Carlton North Primary School Community,

It is with a deep sense of gratitude and pride that I write to you today as I prepare to say farewell to the school that has been my home for the past 8 ½ years. My time at Carlton North Primary has been filled with remarkable achievements, personal milestones, and countless unforgettable memories.

As both Principal and a parent, this school has been an integral part of my life, and my children’s. Watching them grow alongside your children has made my connection to this community even more special. Together, we have accomplished so much. From establishing our beautiful Indigenous Gardens to proudly raising the Aboriginal, Torres Strait and Pride flags on the new flag poles, to showcasing the talents of our students in school productions, art shows, and, of course, the incredible fetes that have become such a highlight for us all.

Our Year 6 Graduations have been moments of joy and pride as we’ve celebrated the growth and achievements of our students as they’ve transitioned to the next exciting stage of their lives. I could not be more proud of the phenomenal school results we’ve achieved, particularly in NAPLAN. This year our Year 3 Reading results are the highest results in our school network and among similar schools. The work that we have done in the Schoolwide Positive Behaviour space and Respectful Relationships has had a significant impact on the overall wellbeing of our students. Initiatives like our therapy dogs have made a difference, providing comfort and connection within our school.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Assistant Principals Jane and Erin for their unwavering support, wisdom, and dedication. To our Business Manager, Trish, thank you for your invaluable contributions and tireless work behind the scenes. To our incredible staff, parents, and students—thank you for your commitment, enthusiasm, and passion. It has truly been a team effort, and I have been privileged to work with such an outstanding community.

Carlton North Primary School will always hold a special place in my heart. While I may be moving on, I will forever carry the lessons, friendships, and achievements we’ve shared. I have a special place in my heart for all the children at CNPS. I will be watching from afar (not too far) as they all grow into amazing little humans and adults. I am confident that this wonderful school will continue to thrive and grow, and I look forward to hearing about the future successes that will come.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the trust and support you’ve shown me throughout my time here.

With warmest regards,

Rachel Corben
