Music with Emily
Term 3, 2024
The 4/5 class have been making drum rhythms together as part of the Rhythm to Recovery program Emily has been facilitating. This week they took the drums outside to work on exercises that improve coordination, collaboration and cooperation. Here they are crossing over hands and tapping the beat in the order of their hands. Such concentration and coordination was needed! The students learnt about the increased neural activity being activated across the brains hemispheres and how this can improve cognition, and they persisted.
They learnt a range of Heartbeat rhythms (returning to the bass on Beats 1 and 2) that they played together while selected students joined in with their own rhythms to add to the groove. Here the students are supporting Gen and Emily who were involved in a drum rhythm conversation across the circle.
Choir is open for all students who share a love of singing and making music with others. Each Tuesday during the lunchtime break we meet in the Music Room. All new and interested members are welcome. Come along for a sing-a-long!
