Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

On Monday, Years 3-4 headed off early to Melbourne for their Urban Camp.  During the camp, they visited Science Works and experienced the show, Tilt, in the planetarium. At the Melbourne Museum, they engaged in the Dinosaur walk, Bugs Alive and the Dynamic Earth exhibitions.  At IMAX, they explored the world of insects close up in 3D, through Bugs: Mighty Monsters, before embracing the physical challenge of learning to skate on ice. This was followed by a relaxing exploration of the National Art Gallery.  Their camp finished with a trip to the Zoo and many happy memories.  Many thanks to Dave, Kathryn, Kath, Megan, Laura and Duanne for helping to make these memories and for their supervision and support of students during their time on camp. Despite arriving home exhausted from their adventure, they have all had a great experience.

Yesterday, students in Prep-6 experienced a Questacon Circus presentation, focused on fluids and flight, as part of the Questacon outreach program.

Questacon will be presenting more shows and hands on learning experiences, this weekend at the Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre.  Bookings are essential for this free show, and more shows will be released, so keep trying if at first they appear to be booked out!  For booking information, please refer to the card sent home today, with your child.

At tomorrow's assembly, we will be treated to a special presentation from the Spookie Ukies. This will be our last assembly for the term, so we hope you can join us!

Next Monday will be the final session for the Year 5 Skateboarding Health and Well-being program.  Thanks to the School Focussed Youth Service, students will travel into Wodonga, to have their skate lesson at Al's Skate Co.

On Tuesday, students in Years 3/4 and 4/5 will be participating in a drama incursion.  This is the final drama event for the year and is a culmination of their fortnightly, online drama sessions, which they have been doing with Drama Victoria, throughout terms 2 & 3.

The drama will continue on Wednesday, as our Year 5 & 6 students will be presenting a short dramatic performance of Alice in Wonderland.  Students will be performing their play for the school at 11.30am and again in the evening for their families, commencing at 6pm.  We hope to see you there.

Landcare will be visiting the older grades on Friday, along with Josh Griffiths, a scientist from EnviroDNA, who will be talking to students about our local platypus, and what we can all do to protect this very special animal.

To celebrate the end of term, next Friday will be a casual dress day.  A reminder that on this day, school will finish at the earlier time of 2.30pm.
