CIS Athletics Carnival

On Friday 6th September the CIS Athletics Carnival was held at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre. Kambala had 9 athletes competing on the day, which is a great achievement. Our students performed with great determination and did both themselves and their school proud.

Special congratulations to Olivia Boulton who finished in 2nd place in the 12-year-old 1500m and has made the CIS team that will compete at the NSW PSSA Athletics Championships on October 23/24 at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.

Australian Snowsports Championships

The Australian Snowsports Championships were held in Perisher and despite the warm conditions all the events went ahead. Our Kambala team did exceptionally well across every discipline. Thank you to Rod Howell for all his work with the team and to the parents of each term member  for volunteering and acting as Team Managers for your girls. I am sure they appreciated it!

Congratulations to our Division 5 Cross Country Classic skierLexi Ogane, Emma Kennedy and Olivia Rodriguez on winning Bronze at the Australian Championships. This was the team's first foray into Cross Country skiing, and they have achieved amazing results against schools based on snow. They finished 4th in Australia in the relay, another remarkable result for the Year 3 trio.

Senior A Netball Team

Our Senior A netball team played their final IGSA round game on Saturday and finished off the regular season with a dominant victory over SCEGGS. This team has now finished the regular IGSA season in 1st place and the RNA competition in 1st place. Not an easy feat, especially playing in such a high division in both competitions. The team will play their IGSA semi-final this Saturday 14 September followed by the RNA Grand Final in the afternoon. We are really hoping this team can do the double this year and be the first Kambala Senior A team to win Inters Div 1 and IGSA in the same season. I can’t wait to see the girls play this Saturday!

Team members are: Edie Christopher (Captain), Kalia Finau, Grace Hyder, Lyla Hyder,  Laura Janes, Anneke Lenior, Maddie Nazar, Sophie Regan, Emilia Tammela and  Minty Welsh.

Coaches: We have been so lucky to have two amazing coaches on our Senior A team this year. Brianna Tier has coached for Kambala for 4 years. She has played premier league for GWS and played for Randwick Rep teams for many years. This year she coached the Randwick 13 years rep netball team who won the NSW Junior State Titles!

Mia Baggett is a star of the future. She played for UTS Sparks and won the U/23’s premier league this year. Mia was then selected to represent NSW Waratahs at the National championships in August and her team won! Mia has been a part of the  Australian U20's squad and represented NSW. We are very lucky to have Mia and Bri!
