Father’s Day Liturgy

In week 6, the St Luke’s community had the opportunity to come together in prayer with parents, students and families to celebrate the significance and give thanks for the father and father figures in the community. The St Luke’s community expressed their gratitude towards the roles they fulfil in the every day life of our students. Deacon Tony reminded us to look at the figure of St Joseph, as a role model a father, and imitate his example. Finally, Deacon Tony shared a blessing with all the fathers present to strengthen them in their role and give them the courage and confidence to do their best.

Stage Liturgies

In week 7, Early Stage 1 and Stage 6 came together as a Stage to celebrate their Term 3 liturgies.

In Early Stage 1, students explored the theme of how they can show their love for God through their actions. Through the Scripture passage, students were able to reflect on actions they can take in their daily lives to show their love for God.

Stage 6 explored the theme of Challenges and Opportunities. Students were encouraged to look at the challenges in their lives and to seek the opportunities available to them, and to always look at Christ.

In week 8, Stage 1; and Stages 3 and 4 came together to celebrate their stage liturgies.

Stage 1 delved deeper into how their actions help themselves and others flourish. Through the Scripture passage of the Greatest Commandment, students were able to find examples of what it means to flourish.

Stages 3 and 4 explored the theme of “Community and Belonging.” Students were able to think about and reflect on the importance of belonging to a community and what it means to belong to a Catholic Community.

In week 9, our Stage 2 students were also able to come together to celebrate their Stage liturgy as a community. Students were able to explore how they can display the Catholic Values in their everyday lives, especially through mission work.

Social Outreach

Catholic Mission

St. Luke’s has been partnering with Catholic Mission for the first time to support their outreach mission in Mongolia. As such, students have been learning all about being caring global citizens in Religion lessons. Representatives from Catholic Mission visited the College on Friday the 30th to run workshops with our students to further this area of learning.

We also have Year 9 on $42.00.

For any K-4 parents who want to contribute to raising funds for Catholic Mission click here to find out how to register your child/ren and have a look at the SOCKTOBER website.

If you would like to make a donation you can do this through your child's registration link or through the QKR app under ‘fundraisers - show your colours’.

We will continue with this until the end of November.

Operation Christmas Child

This year we are once again participating in the Social Justice initiative of 'Operation Christmas Child' through the ‘Samaritan’s Purse’ organisation. This initiative involves packing a box full of items an underprivileged child from overseas can receive during the Christmas period.

This initiative will run from week 4 to week 10 this term and is something you can do at home together with your child/children. It requires a cost of $12.50 through the QKR app to cover the shipping of your box, providing Gospel materials, and in-country training through Samaritan’s Purse. You will also need to consider the personal cost of filling up the box with items.

If you would like to participate in this initiative this year, please make your $12.50 payment through the QKR app. Once completed, you can collect your box and label from the front office. You can decide if you would like to pack a box for a boy or girl from the following age groups shown on the label below.

These boxes will need to be returned to the office by Friday Week 10 so that they can be delivered in time for shipping. BOXES NEED TO BE RECEIVED BY THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 26.  Plese drop off at the Office.

For more information about who you can pack a box for and what can go into it, please see the link for boys and girls.

As always, thank you for your support and generosity!

YCS @ St Luke's:

At school, YCS leaders organised a plenary session to pinpoint challenges within their area of influence, aiming to devise a robust action plan rooted in their guiding 'See-Judge-Act' philosophy. Students identified needs at the school level and at the broader level. They were divided into smaller groups and a leader was allocated for each group as facilitator. The results of the review will be discussed in the upcoming meeting and the prioritised items will be discussed with senior leaders and Principal soon.
